VARIETY: Strike enters countdown mode

The final step to ending the WGA strike is now hours away.Members are starting to vote on lifting the three-month-old strike order via a pair of membership meetings in New York and Los Angeles.

The Gotham meeting's set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza while the Los Angeles meet will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the WGA Theater.Members can also vote by fax and results of the voting - widely expected to endorse ending the strike - are set to be announced by the WGA several hours later. The WGA's also planning to mail out ratification ballots to members in the next few days with a 10-day return period to officially endorse the new three-year deal.
